Cigarette smoking continues to significantly impact Wisconsinites’ health and economy.

Because more than 915,000 adults smoke cigarettes and approximately 6,900 minors become daily smokers, cigarette smoking will continue to be both a health and economic burden for the state—unless we take action. Programs and policies aimed at preventing and reducing the number of people who smoke cigarettes are essential to eliminating smoking induced problems.

Major aspects of WAATPN’s efforts include getting youth and young adults involved in the fight against tobacco usage because engaging youth helps reduce the number of young people who start smoking. Other efforts center on getting the community informed and to participate in the fight as well.
